The Associate Consultant, Commercial Excellence is a hands-on, execution focused role reporting to the Commercial Excellence Lead. This role is ideal for someone who brings foundational pharmaceutical industry knowledge and enjoys building and customizing client-ready solutions for a commercial audience.
Summary Description
The Associate Consultant, Commercial Excellence is a critical contributor to WLH’s consulting and learning solutions practice, with a strong focus on strategic account management excellence, customer centric resource development, and commercial capability building. This individual performs a key role in customizing WLH methodologies, frameworks, and tools and tailoring them thoughtfully to client needs, therapeutic areas, and functional realities, applying foundational learning principles to ensure solutions drive behavior change.
Success in this role requires pharmaceutical acumen, comfort working across commercial and adjacent functions (e.g., market access, medical), and the ability to leverage consultative questioning that leads to relevant, high-quality deliverables. While WLH will train on its proprietary methodologies and approaches, the Associate Consultant must bring a working understanding of the pharmaceutical marketplace and commercial operating models. This individual will quickly become a trusted partner to internal teams and external clients, consistently driving outcomes aligned with WLH’s mission, values, and quality standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Customer Centered Resource & Solution Development
- Support upfront diagnostics by gathering, organizing, and synthesizing client, market, and role-specific information. Asks thoughtful questions that help clarify client needs, constraints, and success criteria.
- Apply foundational instructional design and adult learning principles to ensure learning resources are practical, engaging, and effective for commercial audiences.
- Customize WLH tools, frameworks, and learning resources (e.g., account planning frameworks, playbooks, and learning journeys to reflect:
- Specific therapeutic areas
- Client commercial structures
- Role expectations across matrix teams
- Adapt materials to support engagements ranging from a single role or therapeutic area to integrated, multi-TA, multi-role deployments.
- Ensure deliverables are practical, relevant, and aligned with client realities—not “off-the-shelf.”
- Continuously refine and adapt materials based on client feedback, evolving market conditions, and emerging commercial challenges.
Account Management & Client Engagement
- Support initiatives across WLH’s core focus areas, with a strong emphasis on strategic account management, customer segmentation, stakeholder mapping, and value based engagement strategies.
- Participate in internal team meetings and client meetings demonstrating professionalism, preparedness, and growing credibility.
- Collaborate with WLH team members to collect, analyze, and synthesize customer and market data to inform solution design, account planning tools, and commercial recommendations.
- Incorporate feedback from senior WLH consultants and clients to refine materials and approaches.
- Execution & Operational Excellence
- Manage assigned tasks and timelines across multiple projects with attention to detail and quality. Develop polished deliverables—including PowerPoint presentations, Word documents, Excel based tools, and other materials that meet WLH’s standards for clarity, accuracy, and strategic impact.
- Adhere to WLH quality standards, confidentiality expectations, and consulting best practices.
Requirements
Core Competencies, Knowledge, and Skill Requirements
- 2–5 years of experience in the pharmaceutical or life sciences industry, consulting, or commercial learning/training environment.
- Foundational understanding of:
- The pharmaceutical marketplace
- Commercial structures and roles
- The interactions between commercial, market access, and medical teams
- Demonstrated learning agility, innovative thinking, and the ability to conduct needs analyses and build tailored, customercentric commercial solutions.
- High attention to detail and pride in producing client-ready work.
- Strong communication skills with a commitment to open, respectful, and professional collaboration.
- High comfort level with technology platforms and Microsoft 365 tools (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, MS Forms, etc.).
- Ability to manage confidential information with discretion and professionalism.

Hybrid Role: This position requires approximately 10–25% travel based on client facilitation, industry conferences (up to 1–2 per year), and team offsites (up to 1–2 per year). All other work is performed remotely. While WLH operates primarily on Eastern Time, schedules may flex to accommodate client needs. Candidates may be located in any time zone; however, applicants based in Florida or Georgia are preferred to support onboarding and team collaboration.
