Job DescriptionJob DescriptionOverviewOur organization is on the lookout for a per diem child psychiatrist who is either board-certified or board-eligible to enhance our expanding behavioral health team. This unique and fulfilling position is within our Crisis Stabilization/EMPATH Unit, a dynamic 12-bed program dedicated to delivering immediate and compassionate psychiatric care to individuals in crisis.
The EmPATH unit serves as a specialized, tranquil area within a hospital, focusing on swift mental health evaluations and treatments for those facing crises. Unlike a conventional emergency room, it emphasizes a calming atmosphere that alleviates anxiety and fosters healing.
This role presents a significant chance to assist a diverse and underserved community in the Inland Empire region, all while collaborating in a multidisciplinary setting at one of Southern California's premier academic medical centers and a Level I Trauma Center.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver direct psychiatric care to patients within the Crisis Stabilization/EMPATH Unit.
- Engage in collaborative care alongside Emergency Department teams, medical and surgical specialties, and social services.
- Participate in consultation-liaison psychiatry as required, including floor consultations.
- Supervise and mentor psychiatry residents, medical students, and other trainees.
- Work with a team of nurse practitioners, social workers, case managers, and peer support specialists to ensure smooth transitions of care.
- Contribute to quality improvement initiatives, innovation, and the establishment of best practices in emergency psychiatric care.
- There is also the potential for a Medical Directorship role, depending on experience and interest. This leadership position would involve overseeing clinical operations of the unit, supporting quality improvement efforts, and influencing the development of emergency psychiatric services.

Compensation & BenefitsThe listed compensation range is for the starting base salary only and will be adjusted based on years of experience and/or faculty rank: $190 - $195 per hour. This figure does not include variable compensation or additional productivity and is subject to the specific compensation plans of the department. Further details regarding compensation will be discussed during the recruitment process.
